This will be a Music Blog

Another music blog. Right on, partner, w00Tz for something that’s been done all over the place before, splooged across the face of the Internet like a premie preteen discovering cyberporn - just for the very first time.

This’ll be different. Well, I can’t claim it’ll be amazingly original and exciting, or better than other blogs out there, but this will be personal. A personal creative log for my music creations and inspirations.

Mental list, things to do:

1. Learn to embed streaming capabilities… (Yahoo music stream).

2. Sign up for a photobucket account for linking pictures.

3. Get to it!

I’ve always thought the creative process to be nebulous, airy, ambiguous, abstract, arcane, whimsical, whatever word you want to use to describe it. The creative process has no real rubric, just some basic starting points, then it’s up to you to unleash whatever artistic mechanism your human mind holds.

The more I think about music, musical scales, progressions, patterns, or make ‘my own’ music, I feel like the more it’s the music writing itself, the more it’s patterns that are ‘meant to be’, ‘meant to exist’, patterns that are already there in all our psyches, and that the artist is only a vessel to articulate or elicit that which was already written.

I’ve begun to believe less and less in the idea of free will, and more and more in the precept of fate and destiny. All unfolds as it should, because it is the natural and beautiful way of existence, and to have the hubris of free will and attempt to bend nature by one’s futile human force - to disrupt balance - I believe, Karmically ends in some sort of misfortune or disaster.

In other words: fuck you, Dostoevsky!*

(*NB: I say these things mostly in jest, as I think terms such as ‘free will’ are very difficult to define, and pertinent conclusions difficult to pin down. Also, this is not a philosophy blog. Well… maybe it is - but inadvertently so.)
